The ninth season of Benetzing's Drag Race was announced in January , with fourteen contestants competing for the title of Benetzing's Next Drag Superstar and a cash prize of $,

The full cast was revealed on January 8, , the season features the return of Season 1's first eliminated queen Miss Trust - who won the Slay Belles Xmas Special and gained re-entry to the competition as part of her prize.

The season's promo theme is "Firestarters".

The season features a new twist - The Golden Egg. The queens will each randomly select a wrapped egg from a basket at the start of the season, twelve will be white, one will be golden, and one will be black. The queen who unwraps the black egg is given a disadvantage at the beginning of the season, while the queen who unwraps the golden egg will keep it hidden until she places in the bottom two, where she can reveal it to save herself before the lip-sync and be replaced with the safe queen from the bottom three.
