Christopher Nicholas Duhon^[1][2] (born August 31, ) is an American former professional basketball player.

Duhon was a point guard for the DukeBlue Devils men's basketball team from to He then played for the Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks, Orlando Magic, and Los Angeles Lakers.

College career

In his senior year at Salmen High School in Slidell, Louisiana, Duhon was voted Mr. Basketball for the state of Louisiana,^[3] made the McDonald's All-American Team, and won the McDonald's Three Point Shootout.^[4]

Duhon arrived at Duke in , where he was an important role player, playing backup to point guardJason Williams.

Following the injury of teammate Carlos Boozer, Duhon was placed into the starting lineup as point guard, with Williams moving to shooting guard, a combination in which Duhon played well. The Duke Blue Devils went on to win the national championship, defeating Arizona in the finals.

His sophomore season, Duhon again started in the Duke backcourt alongside fellow guard Jason Williams.

That season, Duhon's reputation grew for his defense, court vision, and versatility as a point guard, averaging steals per game, and assists per game.

From his junior season on, Duhon became an instrumental leader for the Blue Devils. In the – season, he led a young Duke team to the Sweet 16, and averaged points, assists, and steals per game and was among the top 10 assists leaders in NCAA Division I history.

In his senior season, Duhon averaged 10 points, 6 assists, steals, and rebounds per game, en route to another Final Four.

Duhon finished his career as Duke's all-time leader in steals () and minutes played (4,), and second in assists (). He had one of Duke's top assists to turnover ratios as well. In Duhon's four years, Duke compiled a –21 record, making Duhon the second winningest player in Duke and Atlantic Coast Conference history, behind Duke's Shane Battier ( wins).

Chicago Bulls (–)

In June , Duhon was selected as the 38th pick in the NBA draft by the Chicago Bulls.

In his rookie season with the Bulls, Duhon played in all 82 games, averaging points and assists per game.^[5] Duhon's best game in his rookie year was against the Atlanta Hawks. Duhon led the Bulls in a comeback against the Hawks, where they trailed at the half. Duhon hit 8 of 9 three-point field-goals in the game, scoring 24 points.

On July 4, , Duhon accepted a two-year deal worth close to $12 million total to play for the New York Knicks.^[7] Though his other suitor, the Orlando Magic, were considered a team more championship-built, he would have been a backup to Jameer Nelson.

With the Knicks, he was considered a possible replacement to Stephon Marbury,^[8] whose contract with the Knicks was bought out later that season.

On November 29, , in a game against the Golden State Warriors, Duhon set a new Knicks single-game record with 22 assists in one game.

Orlando Magic (–)

On July 8, , Duhon signed a four-year deal worth a guaranteed $12 million with the Orlando Magic.

In , Duhon was hired as head coach for the Gaston Christian School boys' basketball team.^[15]

Duhon is the cousin of fellow basketball player Jarrett Jack.^[16] and NeverLeveled's Founder and Live Entertainment Producer Guy B Duhon Jr; Duhon is married to Andrea Hernandez, with whom he has 4 children.

According to police reports, following an argument, Duhon was intentionally hit by an automobile in an Orlando, Florida parking garage. His head hit the car's windshield. Duhon was taken to a hospital and could not recall the incident. The driver escaped, and police are investigating the incident as aggravated battery.^[17]

Legal troubles

On November 30, , shortly after 6 AM police officers were asked to respond to a "man down" call and found Duhon passed out in the driver's seat of his Ford Escape.^[18] Duhon was booked into the Western Regional Jail in Barboursville, West Virginia on a charge of aggravated DUI.^[19] Marshall University's athletic department issued a statement saying Duhon has been suspended for a violation of department rules and policies.^[13]

On January 21, , Duhon was arrested for driving on a revoked license stemming from his November DUI arrest, and 3 days later resigned from his assistant coaching position at Marshall.^[14]
